APD | Cambodia starts to test Paperless Cross-Border Trade

PENOM PENH , Jan. 9 (APD)-A move to expedite the development of its cross-border trade among other ASEAN countries, Cambodia starts to implement the Asean Single Window to facilitate cargo clearance and boost cross-border trade among the 10 Asean members. 

The Asean Single Window provides a secure information technology and the legal framework in enabling trade, transport and comical data to be exchanged electronically among government agencies or within the trading communities, especially reduce paperwork.

Cambodia will join the bloc implementing the platform of Asean Single Window, Ho Sivyong, director of Export and Import Department at Ministry of Commerce, said that Cambodia just start testing the process  of the paperless border works. 

‘We are ready and will join to implement the platform with other Asean countries,’ Mr Sivyong said.

Earlier of 2018, five Asean member countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam started implement the Asean Single Window.

Thailand has revealed that in its 2019 ASEAN chairmanship it will facilitate the development of the Asean Single Window in the remaining five countries –Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Brunei.
